Ineligible: Charges not eligible for earning Points include, but are not limited to: taxes, service charges, gratuities and third-party services (parking, business center, watersport rentals, etc.). In addition, certain types of room rates are not eligible to earn Points. These include group or convention rates settled through a master bill, airline crew room charges, tours or pre-packaged deals through travel agents, wholesale rates, and rates from third-party bookings such as, but not limited to, Priceline.com, Expedia.com, etc.

Eligible: Your qualifying room rate, most food and beverage, and in-room entertainment are eligible to earn points. Most room rates that a member has booked directly are qualified to earn Points, including but not limited to: standard rates, corporate, government and discounted rates.

Although we do not offer direct status matching (e.g. your status from one hotel company is recognized as Elite in Marriott Bonvoy), there are opportunities to attain Marriott Bonvoy Elite status through our Marriott Bonvoy Partnerships with United Opens in a new window and Hertz Opens in a new window.

Additionally, existing Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite and Gold Elite members may register for one of two "Status Challenges" to receive upgraded status for one year:

  • Open to Members who contact the CEC and request a challenge:
    • Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite requires 8 nights in 3 months
    • Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite requires 16 nights in 3 months
  • Members can register for Gold OR Platinum only once during the promotion period (between now and December 31, 2019)

Members earn 10 points per $1.00 USD spent on qualifying charges; 5 points per 1.00 USD on qualifying charges at Element®, Residence Inn® and TownePlace Suites® hotels; and 2.5 points per 1.00 USD on qualifying room rates at Marriott Executive Apartments® and ExecuStay® properties. Yes. A member can earn points on up to three rooms, as long as one room is occupied by the member, your membership number is on each room, and you are paying for each room. The two additional rooms must have at least one night in common with the member’s room. Elite Night Credit is earned only for the room where the member personally stays.

Members can earn points for up to three guest rooms at a participating property when (1) each room is paid for by the member and all charges are settled at checkout; (2) one room is occupied by the member; and (3) the two additional rooms must have at least one night in common with the member’s room.

No. Our Marriott Bonvoy™ terms and conditions require that you personally stay at the hotel to be eligible for points or Elite Night Credit. The only exception is to earn points or Elite Night Credit through Marriott Bonvoy Events. Learn more.

No. You can choose to earn either points or miles when you join Marriott Bonvoy™. If you prefer to earn miles, select your airline and provide your frequent flyer program number.

You can also switch between earning points and miles at any time by updating your online profile on the “My Account” page. Or, contact Member Support prior to your stay.

One of the fastest ways to earn points is with our portfolio of Marriott International co-brand credit cards. These include legacy and new Chase, JPMorgan and American Express cards. You can earn points with each purchase made on the card, with even higher earnings for your transactions at our participating properties.

You’ll also earn points when you plan an event or meeting at participating properties, and through various travel partners.

Members can earn points for meetings and events at participating brands with Marriott Bonvoy™. To ensure you receive points, be sure to include your membership number in the contract and throughout your engagement with the hotel.

We changed the name with the new branding of our loyalty program – Marriott Bonvoy™. The program structure and processes haven’t changed as of now.

You can register for any promotion you’re eligible for by going to the “Promotions” tab in your account. To register for a promotion, just use the “Register” button next to it. If you received an email with a promotion, you’ll need to sign into your account to register for it.
